Jimmie Johnson showed 'em something at Dover on Sunday, leading the most laps from pole to hold off Jeff Burton, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards for the win. Kyle Busch, Paul Menard, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin and A.J. Allmendinger filled out the top 10 with Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Jamie McMurray, Juan Pablo, Kevin Harvick and Reed Sorenson earning the last of the FMFL points.
Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle was 17th and 18th ahead of Tony Stewart (21st), Brad Keselowski (22nd) and Dale Jr. (23rd) with Clint Bowyer 25th. With eight races to go I'd say 2/3rds of the Roush Fenway drivers, 1/3 of RCR and probably Smoke are out of contention.
Kyle Busch won his record-breaking 11th Nationwide race of the season, leading the most laps and beating teammate and polesitter Joey Logano, Carl Edwards, Reed Sorenson (what's his name doing so far up in the standings?) and Happy Harvick. Paul Menard was seventh, Ryan Newman 10th, Roush Fenway rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 11th and Erik Darnell, still filling in for Colin Braun in the No. 16 Citibank Ford in 14th.
Brad Keselowski? The driver who is going to be this year's NNS champion and the most popular pick for Dover? 17th. For the big zero in the Super 7 Sweep points column. That one hurt. A lot.
Austin Dillon was another Chevy driver who started on pole and led the most laps to win but Richard Childress's grandson did it at Vegas, in a truck series race, beating Johnny Sauter, James Buescher, Todd Bodine and Matt Crafton. Aric Almirola, Brian Ickler, Justin Lofton, Ricky Carmichael and Ken Schrader filled out the top 10 with Ron Hornaday 11th.
What's happened to Hornaday this season? We (too many Super 7 Sweep players) always pick the No. 33 Kevin Harvick driver but it seems he is snakebit this year and just can't seem to get back to the front.
Speaking of snakebit, Lewis Hamilton DNF'd for the second race in a row as Fernando Alonso won the F1 Singapore GP over Sebastien Vettel, Mark Webber, Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg. Ruben Barichello as sixth in a Williams, Robert Kubica was seventh in his Renault, Felipe Massa was 10th and Michael Schumacher -- who appears to spend too much time denying rumors he's going to re-retire before next season -- was 13th.
Hamilton started third but made contact with Mark Webber while attempting a mid-race pass, suffering enough damage to a rear wheel assembly that he had to park his McLaren and watch his title hopes evaporate.
Yep. Hamilton was also the top F1 pick in last weekend's RD#35 of the Super 7 Sweep. Yes, I was among those who picked him.
Now the question is, after being burned by Hamilton for two races in row, will I pick him again?
