Kyle Busch tied Mark Martin for most wins in the Nationwide Series with 49 on Saturday at Loudon, beating Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Aric Almirola. Polesitter Brad Keselowski was eighth, Elliot Sadler 12th, Joey Logano 20th and Carl Edwards -- gasp -- was classified 34th after an engine problem 50 or so laps into the race. Lotsa zeroes.
Kyle Busch also joined Richard Petty and David Pearson as the only drivers in NASCAR history with at least 100 wins in the top three divisions.
Stephen Wallace had more hits than a Jennifer Lopez wardrobe malfunction website. The guy's a natural.
And after the race Kevin Harvick said NASCAR President Mike Helton had warned him not to touch Busch on the track or risk being parked. Another natural.
With no Cup drivers in Iowa Matt Crafton got the truck series win over Austin Dillon, polesitter David "Who?' Mayhew, Johnny Sauter and Joey Coulter with Cole Whitt, James Buescher, Nelson Piquet Jr., David Starr and Toddy Bodine -- in a Randy Moss Motorsports Toyota -- filling out the top 10.
Brian Ickler was 14th in the No. 18 Tundra his team owner Kyle Busch usually drives with Ron Hornaday 19th, Parker Kligerman 22nd in the only Dodge, Ricky Carmichael 27th and Jack Smith 29th in the only Ford in the field.
Ryan Newman took a chance on fuel to win the Sunday Cup race at New Hampshire Speedway in front of boss and teammate Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson. Kurt Busch was 10th and first Dodge in front of Jeff Gordon and the three Fords of A.J. Allmendinger, Carl Edwards and David Ragan; Dale Jr. was 15th ahead of Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth (20th), Kevin Harvick (21st) and Mark Martin (22nd) all coming up bupkis.
Juan Pablo and Jamie McMurray were 30th and 31st after running out of fuel late, Brad Keselowski was 35th and poor Kyle Busch came home 36th after blowing a tire and smacking the wall hard after just 58 laps. Lotsa more zeroes.
This week it's RD#25 with six races on the schedule, everything but Cup, with ALMS at Mosport, IndyCar at Edmonton, Rolex at New Jersey Motorsports Park, F1 at the Nurburgring and NASCAR Trucks and Nationwide cars at Nashville. Starting lineups are due by Thursday at midnight and good luck to everyone except those in front of me.
