The Saturday Nationwide Series race at Richmond was a barnburner with Kyle Busch beating Carl Edwards, RIcky Stenhouse Jr., Ryan Truex and Kenny Wallac with Elliott Sadler, Aric Almirola, Reed Sorenson, Justin Allgaier and Front Row Joe Nemechek filling out the top 10. Danica was 18th in front of Brad Keselowski with Kevin Harvick 20th, and out of the FMFL Top 16, after Happy got in one of his moods and decided to start beating and banging ... which is how Trevor Bayne finished 28th. Jamie McMurray had mechanical problems and finished 31st in the Phoenix Racing Chevy.
Sunday's Cup race saw Harvick hold off Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, David Ragan and Kurt Busch for the win with Kyle, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin and Mark Martin sixth through 10th. Bad Brad Keselowski was 12th in front of Greg Biffle, Dale Jr. was 16th, Matt Kenseth came home 23rd and Jimmie Johnson was 31st after tangling with the Elder Busch.
After the race Kurtsie got into it with first one writer, then another. I'm amazed that The Captain puts up with this kind of behavior.
In Formula 1 Sebastien Vettel won the pole, led all but a couple of laps and beat Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher to win Monza for the first time. Felipe Massa was sixth, Nico Rosberg DNF'd after being taken out in a lap one crash not of his doing.
This week we have six of all seven series in action with all three NASCAR series at Chicagoland, IndyCar at Motegi -- on the road course for the first, last, and only time -- plus ALMS at Laguna Seca and the Rolex Series season finale at Mid-Ohio. Starting lineups are due by Thursday at midnight.
